The Leading Princeton Publication of Conservative Thought

Akhil Rajasekar ’21 selected Publisher of The Princeton Tory, Adam Hoffman ’23 named Editor-in-Chief

On January 18, 2020, the Board of Trustees of The Princeton Tory ratified the results of the Tory’s election, selecting Editor-in-Chief Akhil Rajasekar ’21 as Publisher of the 36th Managing Board.

I plan to further improve the quality of the Tory’s published content and events and expand our impact online,” Rajasekar said. “I look forward to working with my team to situate the Tory at the core of important conversations and deliberations at Princeton,” he added.

Rajasekar succeeds Jeff Zymeri ’20.

It’s been a real pleasure to serve this publication for over a year,” explained Zymeri. “We have made tremendous strides on all fronts and I am especially proud of the fact that our content has been diversified in tangible ways. All this has helped ensure that the Tory continues to be a robust platform for moderate and conservative students on a liberal campus.”

Zymeri is also confident that the Tory will continue and grow in its success.

“I also know that I leave this publication in capable hands. I can’t wait to see how Akhil and his managing board will build upon last year’s success,” he concluded.

Rajasekar’s first official act was designating Adam Hoffman ’23 as Editor-in-Chief.

As Editor-in-Chief, I hope to oversee the Tory’s growth beyond just countering the dominant liberal narratives and its excesses,” explained Hoffman. “The Tory is here to advance the strongest and most powerful reasoned arguments for conservatism.”

Rajasekar also addressed the Tory’s role in the current political climate.

I view the Tory’s role as occupying an ever-important nexus in political debate,” Rajasekar said. “We find ourselves in a time of rampant polarization and a radical unwillingness to engage with those who may have different ideas, and that is precisely the trend that I believe the Tory should buffet.”

Rajasekar concluded by emphasizing his goal for the Tory:

“By presenting the best of conservative thought of and for our fellow students, we seek to ensure that respectful, deliberative dialogue never loses the day or this republic.”
