As of November 28, 2022, the webpage of Princeton’s Office of International Programs lists “Palestine” as a country under its search functions for international internships. According to the site, Princeton offers a program at the Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability at Bethlehem University, which is located in the country of “Palestine.” The site does not include Israel on its dropdown list of countries with international internships, as no programs are offered in the territory of Israel proper.
The United States government does not recognize a country of Palestine. This error comes at the heels of an open letter by the Princeton Committee on Palestine to boycott visits and internships in Israel. The Center for Jewish Life condemned the letter’s language and use of tropes as antisemitic.
