On January 23, 2022, the Board of Trustees of The Princeton Tory ratified the publication’s election results, selecting former Editor-in-Chief Christopher Kane ’24 as Publisher of the 38th Managing Board.
“Going forward as Publisher, I plan to engage more with conservative alumni and support our news division,” Kane said.
Kane succeeds Adam Hoffman ’23.
“I’m handing over a very healthy organization,” Hoffman states. “Over the past year, the Tory has evolved into more than just a magazine: the Tory is the hub for conservatism on campus. We have built a community and stimulated conversations across campus.”
Hoffman’s leadership has even brought the Tory to greater national attention. Under his tenure, the Intercollegiate Studies Institute awarded the Tory with the National William F. Buckley Award for Outstanding Campus Reporting. The Tory was also cited in The New York Times and members appeared several times on Fox News.
Kane recognizes that the Tory has been riding a wave of growth of late. Under Hoffman, the Tory’s membership, readership, and fundraising grew. Hoffman also increased the frequency of publishing and expanded the News division. Kane observed that the News division was “responsible for many hard-hitting stories this past year.”
Kane is confident the Tory will continue to excel at promoting unique points of view on campus. “I know we can continue to rise to our dual challenges of debating the future of American conservatism while thoughtfully critiquing other perspectives,” he affirmed.
This year, William Wade ’23 will serve as Editor-in-Chief. “We look forward to increasing our presence both on and off campus,” Wade said.
Wade is optimistic about the future of the Tory. Due to the far range of social media, he believes we are in “the golden age of student journalism.” Furthermore, Wade is excited to work with Kane. “Christopher has done a great job helping the Tory through the pandemic,” Wade notes.
